Digital menu boards: a practical guide for restaurants
Layouts, daypart scheduling and price updates for cafés and quick-service restaurants.
Why switch from printed menus
Printed boards cost money every time a price, item or offer changes. Digital boards update in seconds, so you can remove sold-out items, adjust prices and promote high-margin items without reprinting.
Choose a layout
Use a multi-zone channel: a main zone for the menu, a side zone for a rotating promotion and a narrow ticker for short messages. Keep the menu zone static so customers can read it while they queue.
Schedule by daypart
Create one playlist each for breakfast, lunch and dinner, then schedule them by hour. The board switches automatically, and every outlet changes at the same time.
Keep it readable
Use large type, high contrast and no more than six to eight items per panel. Show photos of the items you most want to sell.
